The Practice

A Peaceful Practice

“in the breathing practice my mind went blank, my thoughts disappeared, felt so good”

- Vetoris

if you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it well enough
— Albert Einstein

Every time you do The Practice you wake up and into the moment. You engage with the greatest gift already within you [your breath], you discover the power and ease of positive change in each moment of each day. You become aware how this change will influence everything and everyone around you —

one breath at a time

this is The Practice

PAUSE

pause & 10 seconds are the entry points; slow down, take time out, stop for a moment or two & practise stillness in this moment before following the ABC

Aware

become aware of everything around you & within you; noises, people, distractions, thoughts, questions, criticisms, negative inner voice

now be in awareness without judgement, further criticism, labelling, removing or changing

Breathe

breathing is a natural state of being; in this moment connect with your breath

follow it through from the moment you inhale all the way through to the exhale

place one hand on your belly, one on your heart. feel your chest and belly rise and rest as you inhale and exhale, connecting awareness with your breathing

Calm

as you inhale, imagine “I am” and as you exhale, imagine “calm.” repeat this and start to feel these words take form

imagining ‘I am calm’ creates a new state of being; along with inner peace, patience, slowing down & more

the more you imagine & practise, the more you create a shift

The Practice takes 10 seconds (sometimes less, sometimes more, it’s up to you). It can be done anywhere, anytime and nobody knows you're doing it. It works well when responding to difficult situations, triggers and stresses, it’s also a great practice to incorporate into everyday life.

Conversations, pointers, and a 10 second practice toward inner peace, calm, less stress, and less suffering. Nothing to analyse or learn. Showing up is the key, and doing the practice brings on the change.

More stories from those who practise The Practice

“I hate going to the dentist so I always ask for Nitrous and I take my earbuds to listen to my audio book. I got there and asked for Nitrous but they said they don’t give Nitrous anymore and the machines were so loud I couldn’t hear my audio book. The night before I had attended this 10 Seconds Of Calm class, and so I used it while I sat in the dental chair. I did deep breathing and as I inhaled I said “I am” and as I exhaled I said “calm” - I just said it to myself. It really did help, it helped me not to get more stressed out. I get a lot out of attending this, because there are so many ups and downs and stressful situations in life, thank you. I noticed when I paused and slowed down I was kinder to myself”

Thank you for the gift of 10 Seconds of Calm! This is such a wonderful practice. I often do it intermittently throughout the day. Today, I used it when I really needed it. We are packing for a trip and I was trying to get something to work. It was fighting me all the way. I started to have mini-toddler fits and was ready to fling the object across the room. I paused, took a breath and … just stopped. I put the thing away for another moment when I wasn't so stressed. Interesting to note that when I started, I'd already "planned" on having it be a hassle. So a real life example of how powerful 10 seconds is, or in this case, just one”
